...write between the lines

It all started back in the old days...

local_minds was initiated as a project realized with the support of the European Union (approved under the official name of "local_minds - global challenges of intellectual creation".

Launched and administered as a "Future Capital" grant on location from Budapest, Hungary under the supervision of the Mobilitás national organization, the project has successfully reached its goals and brought together young minds from a total of 12 countries in the CEE states.

In a period of several months from its beginnings, local_minds expanded its targeted countries to a total of 14, at the moment being in the process of continuing its popularization among the new proposed "brain markets".  A crucial partner for the local_minds project is the "Artemisszió" cultural foundation in Hungary, which offered its assistance for the accomplishment of the project.

During its 4 months of intense activity which followed the site's being hosted on its own web-address and server, over 20.000 hits have been registered at a highest visitor rate of 350/day. Below you can see how the traffic evolved in the first three months after the site was launched on its own server:

Future ambitions:

Among its many future plans, local_minds is working on accomplishing two major ones:

  • Going on paper: a long-term plan is to issue a local_minds anthology which should include a selection of the top-rated materials in the texts categories. We also intend to print several postcards and posters with the materials existent in the photo gallery section as well as notable quotes from our authors.

  • Local_minds Group: the members of the local_minds community  will be given the opportunity to interact with each other through the new local_minds Yahoo! group. The purpose of this group is to provide a creative space for communication and debates. Weekly, one text of a local_minder will be subject for discussion.
